Come As You Are
Telling Clare’s family

flirtatiousedwards:

The whole ride to her old house was nerve racking for Clare. The familiar surroundings caused memories to flood her mind, some upsetting, some happy. How was she going to tell her all this? That she was engaged and pregnant. She would have a heart attack. She sighed softly to herself as they pulled up to her old home. Not having been here for about 6 months now, it seems almost as a strangers home. As if they’re trespassing. She looked down and held her hand cautiously on her stomach as they stood waiting for the door to be opened. Honestly she was a bit oblivious to what was happening around her. Eli holding her hand, Glen opening the door, them entering. She was just focused on how she would mention all of this, bring it up honestly.  ”Hey, Clare..” Jake said walking out of the kitchen and into the foyer seeing the couple together. Clare came back to reality, if you must,  and looked to Jake, now fully aware of her surroundings. “Hi, Jake…” she smiled faintly and watched as he walked back into the kitchen. “Glen, is that Clare?” Helen called from upstairs. “Yea,” Glen replied then smiled at Clare before joining Jake into the kitchen.

Moments later, Helen walked downstairs, eyeing her daughter and her boyfriend closely. She stood in front of them, her face changing from serious to blissful within seconds. “Clare…” she whispered pulling her into a hug. Clare hugged her back, leaning back a bit so she wouldn’t feel her stomach bump. She looked to Eli, and nodded his way, you could tell she was bit hesitant towards Eli, but nonetheless grateful for him taking care of her daughter. “Let’s eat shall we?” Jake interrupted and they all followed into the dinning room. Clare sat beside Eli, in front on Jake, and next to her mother whom was at the head of the table with Glen on the other side. Clare’s hand never left Eli’s, her nerves getting her even more than now. Clare prayed over the food and they began to eat some. “So, Clare, how’s life been?” Glen asked. Clare looked at him shyly then answered, “Uh, it’s had it’s ups and downs, but that’s life right?” Glen chuckled lightly and agreed, “Don’t I know it.” “Clare, you said you had something important to tell us?” Helen asked placing her silverware down, giving Clare her full attention. Clare froze. This was it. “I, uh, right… Well, mom, I uh, I’m uh…” she stuttered trying to compose the words in her mind but they wouldn’t click.

“You’re what Clare?” Helen asked. As she began to speak, Jake said laughing, “What pregnant?” he joked. Clare just looked at them sheepishly, not saying anything. Helen’s smile faded and the whole table went silent. “You’re pregnant?” Helen asked and Clare shook her head yes, then slowly held up her hand and pointed to her ring finger. “And engaged….” she added. The whole table sat in awe to her announcement, not sure how to react. Helen excused herself from the table and Glen followed suit. Jake congratulated them then too left the room, leaving Eli and Clare by themselves. “That went better than I imagined….” Clare whispered looking down into her hands.

When Eli watched as Helen walked into the living room, he could see how much she’s missed her daughter. He was about to let go of her hand, but Clare squeezed signalling him not to let go. Eli held her hand as they walked to the dinner table, while they prayed, and ate with one hand. As small talk started, Eli listened in and glanced to Clare as they got to her. She was nervous he could tell, she started to stutter, he was about to open his mouth when Jake cut him off, though Jake was joking he was right. After swallowing his food, Eli was about to tell them they were engaged, but Clare let go of his hand to point to her engagement ring. It wasn’t much longer that the whole family got up without a word aside from Jake. “Thank you.” Eli muttered in return. “I’m afraid to ask how you imagined it to be.” he whispered honestly as he laced their fingers together and rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb.

“I’ll be right back.” he stated and pressed a chaste kiss on her lips before removing himself from the table. He knew not to leave Clare to her thoughts for too long and walked to the kitchen, he knocked lightly grabbing everyone’s attention and looked at them. “First of all, Clare and I got engaged before she got pregnant so it’s not just because of the baby. Second, we both work and I plan to take a year off of college so Clare can go to school without having my parents about watching our baby. Third, you have a pregnant daughter out there who’s five months along and needs the support of her parents, not just mine. She needs you guys to be there for her too whether she shows it or not, she has a strong head on her shoulders and she’s independent. You raised a remarkable girl and you’re going to miss out on not only her life, but your grandchild’s life too if you push her away. Clare doesn’t deserve this and if you don’t come talk to her and apologize in the next ten minutes, we’ll go home and all you’ll get are a few texts and pictures because Clare wants you to know your grandchild. The choice is yours whether or not you’ll be in our lives.” he lectured and walked back out to Clare and sat next to her. “How are you feeling?” he asked and kissed her forehead. “I love both of you.” he whispered loud enough for her to hear him.

Telling Clare’s family

flirtatiousedwards:

Clare had just finished her shift and was beyond tired but she made it an obligation to meet with her mother tonight to tell her of her news. As she entered the house, she placed her keys into the bowl on the table by the door, and smiled a bit towards Eli as he walked to her. She kissed him back quickly, then moved up the stairs after he kissed her stomach. “Of course I’m still telling my mother Eli,” she called from their room. “I am telling her tonight, but maybe later to the foot rub if you’re still up for it..” she said walking down the stairs, brushing her hair. Clare walked over to the mirror and finished applying a little bit of make up she had on, retouching it. “Should I change?” she asked turning around, attempting to put on her shoes, then pointing to her dress. Not waiting long enough for an answer she just turned and walked into the kitchen.

She paced around looking for something. She huffed in frustration then said, “Have you seen my purse?” not remembering that she left it upstairs on her bed. “I thought I had put it in here, but it’s not, maybe I left it at work…” she thought then sighed and held onto the counter, hanging her head a bit low. She was frustrated and tired, mostly nervous about tonight. This was the night, the one she’d been worried for for about a month now. Clare looked up then walked out of the kitchen and back upstairs to get her purse then came back down to Eli. “Let’s go…” she mumbled then walked out to her car and opened it, getting into the passengers side waiting for Eli to start driving.

Once Clare was ready to go and had found everything, Eli walked outside with her not being able to help her into the car like usual since he almost forgot his keys. When he was outside Clare was already inside the car waiting for him and he got into the driver’s side. “Sorry, I didn’t have my keys.” he whispered as he started her car knowing he had the spare key on his key ring and pulled away. “I talked to CeCe, she said she read that when someone puts their hand on your stomach to put your hand on theirs and ask them how it feels or how they like it when some random stranger touches their stomach.” he stated as he started to drive from the house. He put his hand on top of Clare’s and laced their fingers together and smirked at her, seeing the seat-belt on top of her bump. “I love you both.” he whispered and kissed the back of her hand. “Speaking of things to tell your mom, I don’t think she know’s we’re engaged and I don’t think Jake knows either.” he stated not knowing how they’d react since the reason Clare moved in was because her mom would rather have Clare be with Jake rather than him. As his thoughts started to consume him, Eli was having second thoughts about going and started to get nervous, but kept his thoughts to himself as he pulled up to her house.

When he parked the car, Eli hurried out to help Clare out of the passenger door and rubbed her stomach for a moment as he pressed his lips against hers. “I love you.” he whispered against her lips, then put his arm around her as they walked to the door. He knew that her dress didn’t really hide her bump that much since it tied in the back meaning the ribbon had to go above her bump leaving the rest of the dress to cover her. “Ready, Clare?” he asked as he was about to knock on the door and moved his hand from around her waist to hold her hand, then laced their fingers together. Once he knocked he squeezed Clare’s hand a little as the two teens waited for someone to answer. A guy answered the door and Eli automatically knew that it was Jake’s dad. Eli looked over to Clare as Glen stepped aside inviting them to enter and looked over at her as they entered the house as he looked around at everyone, he started to wonder if they could notice Clare’s baby bump since it’s more visible in her dress than in her school uniform.

Telling Clare’s family

Eli had been waiting for Clare to come home from work just about all day. While he waited he hung out with CeCe as they watched TV along with a few movie since Bullfrog was working. Clare was already five months pregnant and both teens knew they had to tell her mom soon since she was getting bigger, she already had people touching her stomach even though the baby wouldn’t kick. As he and CeCe watched TV they talked about Clare, the baby, her pregnancy, and him. He had told CeCe about people touching Clare’s stomach and in turn CeCe gave him advice to tell Clare, it would be Clare’s choice to take the advice or not. Time passed as he continued to wait for his fiancee and knew if it become too late he’d call her work just to check to see if she’s still there and that she’s ok.

Not even an hour later Clare walked through the door and Eli walked towards her, put his hands on her waist, and kissed her chastely. “Welcome home.” he whispered against her lips before bending down to peck her stomach, rather than rubbing since he knew Clare had grown to hate having her stomach touched. He knew if he wanted to touch her stomach he’d ask, but also wanted to wait for the baby to start kicking. “Do you still want to tell you mom about the baby and if you’d like I could give you a foot massage when we get home.” he suggested knowing how much her feet probably hurt her.

I guess we’re not going to see Clare’s mom.

It’s getting close to dinner and Clare still didn’t come home from work yet.

Didn’t mean to answer that privately.

Sorry.

Whatcha' two going to see Helen for? Visiting?

To tell her Clare’s pregnant before Clare either has the baby or gets bigger.

Bored waiting in the living room for Clare so we can go see her mom.

Luckily enough CeCe’s been keeping me company since I woke up, she even made me lunch, but we need to go before she actually has the baby.
